A new project that actually started by chance event where some of us clean up litter from trenches and streams. The garbage others throw hurts and destroys the animals that live there. Removing the litter also cleans up the environment.

Jose is a potent leader and a concerned boy who cares to keep gargage out of ditches in his area. .

Jose is anxious to work every day cleaning out debris and litter from the stream and ditches. We have made great progress in this project being very careful not to run into some of our many poison snakes that live close by.

I have made a lot of progress with this project, and it is fun working with these kids. They have so much energy for this. They wait each day for me until I get home from work to 'clean up'.

OUR GOALS:

To help other kids who want to help animals or are told they are to young to volunteer. We want to help animals, the ones who have no voice, and  raise money to donate to non-profit animal organizations. We want to educate others about  cruelty and neglect of animals, and how real the abuse is.
We want kids to know there are many things they can do to help.

Remember, always let your parents know what you are doing.

Animal Associates work as a team, makes decisions together as much as possible,  decides what fundraisers are going to happen, and  where the proceeds will go. With distance among many members, at times we decide through phone, E-mail, word of mouth, or letters.

Any member at any time is able to contact other members with ideas. Supporting each other is team work. Lets put our heads together, there is power in numbers.

Club Words to live by:

Each member is unique in his or her own way. Each member is to be respected as a person by other members, and high morals are expected of every member. Animal Associates is not a popularity contest, or a race to see who can set up the most car washes. It is an opportunity for kids & teens to raise money to  benefit the animals. And to experience the emotions of being able to make  a difference, earn money for animals, and volunteer.

THINGS WE DO:

We write letters to the Editor of our local newspaper. The goal is to raise awareness of animal abuse, or just to tell them what our thoughts are or keep them informed of our fund-raisers.

We called banks and business's and told then who we were, a bit about our club and our goals, and we asked them if we could borrow their lot and water hose to hold a car wash. We told them where our proceeds would go. We set a date, made posters and told everybody we knew about the car wash.

We called business's and asked them if they could donates products for us to raffle off. We recieved many things, including gift cards,  Six Flag tickets, we  had a raffle.

By this time, the local people knew who we were because of our letter writing. This helped us get the public support or knowledge we needed.

Have an adult with you at all times.

In October of 2003 a very special woman passed away and had her memorials left to Animal Associates. Read all about Vivian Duttwieller on Vivian's page. Click the tab at the top of this page.
